Up somewhat early, for a Sunday, since we were expecting some company. Some time in the morning was devoted to picking things up a bit as a result of that as well.
Morning largely uneventful. Breakfast happened. Tons of Gentoo compiling happened. Not much work on the class I teach in a couple of days happened -- which is unfortunate, really.
First set of guests arrived about 2 pm -- the parents of a good grad school buddy of time. D., if you're reading this, your parents say "hi". They brought us (or, rather, Rose) a very nice knitted afghan, which I'm sure she'll appreciate once it starts to cool down a bit. We chatted with the "honorary grandparents" for about an hour, and then they got back on the road to return to their Pennsylvania retirement community.
A few hours later, our other set of guests showed up -- M. and D., local friends (and webloggers). They had made us a dinner (a delicious chicken-based Italian dish involving lots of wonderful cheese) which they brought over to our place and cooked. We hung out and chatted and cooed over TheBaby, then we ate. After dinner, more of the same, plus the Sopranos. M. and D. also brought along a couple of baby-sized hats with Tux the Linux penguin on them (see Linuxwear for more) as well as a full-sized one for Dad. Hopefully Rose will grow into them soon, and then we'll get some pictures up here.
The whole "make dinner and hang out" thing was a wonderful gift, as were the hats -- thanks again, M. and D.! If anybody out there is looking to get a gift for new parents, this is a very good choice!
Bed happened pretty quickly after that; I think lights out was around 12:30.
Good day -- company, good food, great gifts!
