Up around 6:30. Can feel self sliding back out of "the zone" of good GetUpEarly plannage. Email, web, and a bit of ranting got the morning started, after which it was off to work.
Arrived about 9:30 and settled in, catching up on mail and other minor things. Started pounding on new servers, seeing how many concurrent connections could have , etc. Wasn't able to get anything too exciting, as machines are still on 10/100 ethernet. Can fill that pipe way too easily.
Jessamyn and Greg showed up around 11:30, and we spent an hour or so walking about the National Library of Medicine, which was cool. After they got their National Library of Medicine library cards, they headed back off to the Metro and I headed back off to work -- after running into Bethesda to grab a burrito for a late lunch.
More server pounding in the afternoon, as well as some custom tagfile edits. Finally finished that around 5:30, setting me up to do the install tomorrow, and dashed out the door to grab dinner (more burritos) before baby class. Got home with food, gobbled that down while chatting with Greg and Jessamyn, and then headed out to class, leaving them with a SASE with which to return the spare key.
Class was okay, nothing too exciting, although I did learn that if it becomes necessary to "ripen" TheWife's cervix, they might try to use Cytotec. Once we got home, a bit of Googling convinced me that is a Bad Idea, so we'll be revising the birth plan to specificly say "don't use Cytotec", and going over that with our OB.
But, before that Googling occurred, I spent about an hour on the phone with my dad. Mom's father (i.e., TheGrandpa) is still in hospital, will not be leaving hospital, and has apparently begun the slide downwards. Dad was calling to let me know that The Call could come at basically any minute (which I pretty much already knew) and to give me a situation update (not good, friends, not good).
After the phone call and the Googling, we watched a Tour stage -- or, rather, listened to a Tour stage, as I was playing WarCraft and Laura was working on a craft project. After that, we both hit the hay.
Okay day, nothing too great.
